The God of Restoration and Love

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭24:5-7‬ ‭KJV‬‬
“Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Like these good figs, so will I acknowledge them that are carried away captive of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans for their good.
For I will set mine eyes upon them for good, and I will bring them again to this land: and I will build them, and not pull them down; and I will plant them, and not pluck them up.
And I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the LORD: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart.”

A number of God's people had been taken captive by King Nebuchadnezzar to Babylon. The Lord described them to Jeremiah as good and bad figs. The good figs represented those who loved the Lord and remained faithful. Note however that the Lord said they were carried away captive "for their good". Many times when we face difficult circumstances, we tend not to understand God's will in the moment. But it is those difficult moments of "refining fire" that draw us closer to God build faith,  and mould character.

In verse 6 we see God's promise for a turnaround for the people. He never abandons His own. " He delivers and restores. When we look at verses 6 and 7, we see the God of restoration at work.
He "builds".
He "plants".
He "gives us a heart to know" Him - to fully understand Him.
He establishes a firm relationship with us. "They  shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart.”

After all the pain of captivity - after all the despair, He restores,  as we yield to Him.
